At Madison Vineyards we are dedicated to the
production of quality wines from our own estate grown
grapes. Located five miles north of the Ohio River and
the historic river town from which we take our name,
award winning Madison Vineyards focuses on
producing wines from grape varieties currently being
grown in our beautiful 37-acre vineyard.

The winery offers free wine tasting, wine
related gift items and weekend vineyard and winery
tours. Enjoy cheese, fruit and meat trays on the large
deck overlooking the vineyards or in our grassy picnic
area. Special dinners, musical events, hog roasts and
festivals are offered during the season along with
special champagne brunches and barrel tasting tours
during the winter.

Our vineyard, planted on well-drained, south
facing hillsides in the heart of the Ohio River Valley
Viticulture Area, matches soil, sunshine and variety to
grow beautifully matured grapes which produce
International Gold Medal wines.

In 1802 a group of swiss immigrants established
the first commercial winery in the United States near
what became Vevay, Indiana (20 miles east of
Madison). By the middle of the 19th century
thousands of grapes were being grown along the Ohio
River Valley, from Cincinnati to Louisville, an area
which was then known as "The Rhineland of
America". Wine pioneers like John James Defour &
Nicholas Longworth established vineyards and sold
their wines from the Mississippi frontier to the
Jefferson White House. Vine diseases and Prohibition
combined to destroy those vineyards. Today, at
Madison Vineyards, we are commited to the
revitalization of that lost heritage. Our small family
owned and operated winery is dedicated to the rebirth
and establishment of Ohio River Valley Winegrowing .
